Stinky Shoes
If you’ve got stinky shoes, just put a drop or two of Lemongrass essential oil onto two cotton balls. Put one of each into your shoes.

Banish Monsters under the Bed
Just about every child has had a rough time trying to get to sleep because of monsters under the bed, or in the closet. You can create your very own “Monster Spray” that the kids can use just before bedtime so that they can be assured a monster-free zone. Add several drops of Lavender or Vanilla essential oil to a small spray bottle with water, let them spray it around the bedroom, and they’ll be sure to enjoy a more restful sleep, as will you.

You can add aroma to your braai by applying about 10 drops ofRosemary or other essential oil to coals once lit.

Keep Creepy-Crawlies Out of Your House
Spiders, mice, and other vermin hate the smell of peppermint. If they detect it, they’ll immediately turn around and leave. You can repel them by soaking cotton balls inPeppermint essential oil and placing them strategically around the house, like kitchen cabinets and pantries. Another way to do it is to add 10 to 15 drops of the oil to a water bottle and spray it throughout the house, getting all the way back in those cabinets, corners and other areas that mice and spiders tend to hide in.

Sweet smelling bathroom
Put a drop or two ofVanilla ororange other essential oil inside the cardboard toilet roll,.

Smelly Dustbin
Put a drop of Citronella or Lemongrass on a tissue or piece of cotton wool and drop in the dustbin to keep the flies out of the kitchen and to keep it smelling nice.  The hot weather makes any damp or wet items in the bin, smell worse than normal.

All-Natural Fabric Softener

Those store-bought fabric softeners are generally filled with lots of chemicals, and they tend to be expensive too. Instead, try adding a drop ofTea Tree essential oil to a cup of white vinegar. Pour it into your next load of laundry, and you’ll have the perfect all-natural, inexpensive, anti-microbial fabric softener.

Get Rid of Slugs

Slugs are the bane of existence for gardeners. If your garden is suffering because of them, try using a diluted mix of eitherpeppermint or cedarwoodessential oil and water, about 5 drops of oil to one cup of water to start. Spray a ring around any of your plants or produce that are affected by the slugs.

The oils can also be used on your Himalayan Salt Lamp and if you have jewellery with lava stone.
